Here, boy.

WHAT IS OLD DOG?

Old Dog exists to showcase, celebrate and honour the accomplishments of older men who have pushed through the crucible of adversity – in either their professional or personal lives – and have emerged better men and made a bigger impact because of it. By doing so, we want to provide hope and inspiration to others who are in the thick of it.

Adversity comes in all shapes and sizes – much like the men I interview and showcase here – including physical (like an injury or handicap), mental (like a trauma of some kind, and associated addictions), personal (divorced, anyone?) or vocational (think small businesses and COVID-19). Adversity can refine and forge character, and actually qualifies us to better serve other people.

Our cultural is fascinated with youth, and as a result it’s easy to feel irrelevant or redundant as we age… that the world and its opportunities have passed us by. Old dogs have a lot to offer, drawing from a lifetime of experiences, practices and disciplines… so let’s get at it.

Our PURPOSE

Why an Old Dog?

Who doesn’t love an old dog?

Old dogs are calm, composed, and comfortable in their own skin.

Old dogs are resilient. They have nothing to prove. They’ve taken their licks and paid their dues.

Old dogs have learned from life’s lessons, and they don’t get too worked up about anything. Squirrel? Nah. They know what they’re capable of – and not capable of – and they don’t sweat the small stuff.

Old dogs are likeable, wise, and carry a lifetime’s worth of knowledge and experiences behind quiet eyes.

We think that makes them a perfect metaphor for the mature man.
